Elivi Skiathos

Elivi spreads across several low-rise buildings and villas in the pines above Koukounaries and Banana beaches, and the family categories are genuinely generous: two-bedroom suites and villas, some with a private pool and a patch of garden, give parents a door to close on a sleeping baby. Cots and bed rails come free on request, and the larger villas comfortably take a family of four or five without anyone tripping over the buggy.

Princess Resort Skiathos

Rooms run from comfortable doubles to Deluxe Family Rooms with two separate sleeping areas, which is exactly what you want when a baby's bedtime does not match a seven-year-old's. Cots are free on request and the family categories give you the space and storage a week with children actually needs, with many rooms looking out over the garden or the bay.

Kassandra Bay Resort, Suites & Spa

Accommodation ranges from smart double rooms to two-bedroom Family Apartments that sleep four, with a queen bed in one room and two twins in the other, so parents and children get their own space. Cots are free on request, and the apartment layouts make the difference between a cramped week and an easy one when you are travelling with two children.

Atrium Hotel

Rooms step down a pine slope with sea views from most, and the family options include a Family Room with a private pool that sleeps four. Free cots are offered on request, and the private-pool categories are a real draw with young children: a safe, shallow splash just outside your door, well away from the busier main pool.

Skiathos Palace Hotel

A large hotel of around 258 rooms and suites, with family rooms and a family suite option that take four comfortably. Rooms are straightforward rather than designer, but many have balconies with sweeping views over the pines to Koukounaries bay, and cots are available on request, so the appeal here is the setting and the pool rather than cutting-edge interiors.

Troulos Bay Hotel

Simple, comfortable rooms, many with a balcony and sea or garden views, in a relaxed low-rise block right behind the beach. Rooms are practical rather than plush, with the odd family room and kitchenette option, so the appeal is waking up, stepping across the terrace and being on soft sand within a minute, which with young children counts for a great deal.

Kanapitsa Mare Hotel

A small, friendly hotel with comfortable rooms, some looking out to sea, and free cribs offered in certain categories. It is a simpler, quieter stay than the big resorts: not sprawling family suites, but easy rooms on a peaceful peninsula, with a children's menu at dinner and a calm pace that suits families with one or two children.

€€€€from 185€ / night

Esperides Beach Resort

A large hotel of around 180 rooms set in gardens just back from the beach, with family rooms among the categories. The building dates back decades and has been renovated over the years, so rooms are comfortable and practical rather than modern, but the generous gardens and the short stroll to the sand are what families remember.
