This is the northwest coast at its best: nearly two kilometres of soft white sand, a lagoon that stays swimmable at any tide, and an all suite resort spread through mature tropical gardens. The kids club has its own pool, garden and children's restaurant, which is a rare luxury and makes a genuine difference to how relaxed lunch feels. It is expensive and it is a long way from the airport, but for a first big Mauritius trip with children it is close to the reference point.

Our verdict

If the budget allows, this is the northwest coast benchmark for families: a superb lagoon, suites rather than rooms, and a kids club that behaves like a small resort of its own. Book a family suite in a pool crescent rather than a garden suite far from the beach.

🛏️

The rooms

Everything is a suite here, from garden suites with a shared pool crescent to two and three bedroom villas with a private pool, kitchen and butler service. Family suites give you a separate children's bedroom and a proper living area, so bedtime does not end the evening for the adults.

  1. 8:00

Ask for a table under the trees, the sun is already fierce on the terrace.

Kids club with its own pool

Children can stay for lunch in the club restaurant, which buys you a real break.

  3. 13:00

    Sunset walk into the village

Ten minutes on foot for an ice cream and a look at the fishing boats.

🤿

First snorkel off the beach

The reef edge is a short swim out and the water in between is waist deep, so a nervous first timer can stand up whenever they want.

Parents also ask

Family suite or villa?

A family suite is enough for most families of four. The villas make sense for two families travelling together, or for a long stay where a kitchen and private pool change daily life.

How long is the transfer from the airport?

Count an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes across the island. If you land late at night with a baby, one night near the airport before moving north is a reasonable trick.

Can we eat outside the resort?

Yes, and it is one of the reasons to choose the north. Trou aux Biches village has small restaurants, street food and a supermarket within a ten minute walk.
