This is the resort children write about in their school diary. Aqua Nick, the on-site water park, is included for the whole stay: slides, a lazy river, spraygrounds and a giant tipping bucket, plus scheduled Group Slimings where a crowd of kids gets covered in green goo on purpose. Characters appear at breakfast, in the pool and at the evening show. Parents get a genuinely good all-inclusive, adult-only pool corners and a quiet stretch of Uvero Alto sand. The two things to weigh: it costs roughly double a mainstream Bavaro resort, and you are 45 to 60 minutes from the airport with nothing walkable outside the gates.

Our verdict

If you have children between three and ten and the budget stretches, nothing else in the Caribbean delivers this much sheer delight per day. Book it for the years when the theme still lands, not before and not after.

🛏️

The rooms

Everything here is a suite, most of them big enough for four without anyone sleeping on a sofa, and many come with a swim-up terrace straight into a shared lagoon pool. The famous one is the Pineapple Villa, a two-bedroom, three-bathroom SpongeBob house for six with its own garden and infinity pool. Cots and bed rails are free, and orange Nickelodeon detailing runs through the lot.

How the KidProof Score works

Every hotel is rated on eight things families actually care about, then weighted by how much each one drives your choice. Room setup counts the most. The little touches break the ties.

Room setup92

Sleeps how many? Connecting rooms, family suites, a real extra bed?

Baby gear84

Clean travel cot, high chair, bottle warmer, changing table, kit to borrow.

Pool & play95

Shallow pool or paddling area, playground, kids club (free or paid).

Family dining86

Quick breakfast, kids menus, allergy options, snacks on hand.

Safety88

Secured windows, protected corners, watched pool, well kept grounds.

Stay logistics70

Laundry, in-room fridge, stroller access, parking, reliable Wi-Fi.

Location78

Close to family attractions, easy transport, park tickets or access.

Little touches95

Welcome gift for the child, staff who talk to kids, themed rooms.

Why families love it

  • Aqua Nick water park included for every night of the stay
  • Pineapple Villa and other themed suites that sleep six
  • Character meet-and-greets, slime shows and a real kids club
  • Swim-up suites where you step from the terrace into the pool

🗓️A day here with kids

  1. 8:00

    Breakfast before the characters arrive

Eat first, meet after. Trying to do both at once ends with cold eggs and a queue.

  2. 9:30

    Aqua Nick as it opens

The first ninety minutes are the emptiest of the day and the slide queues are nonexistent.

  3. 12:30

    Lunch and shade

Caribbean sun peaks between noon and three. Eat slowly, then go back to the room.

  4. 14:00

Nap or kids club while parents swim

The club takes children from four. Younger ones nap and the swim-up terrace earns its price here.

  5. 16:30

    Sliming session

Check the daily programme, it moves. Rinse in the pool showers straight after, not in the room.

  6. 19:30

    Dinner then the evening show

A la carte restaurants are included but fill up. Book the week's dinners on your first morning.

🟢

Get slimed on purpose

The group sliming runs on a published schedule at the main pool. Old swimwear, hair tied back, and a phone in a waterproof pouch because you will want the photo.

🌊

Aqua Nick lazy river laps

The river is the one attraction that works for the whole family at once, including a nervous four year old in a double ring with a parent.

Time: MorningFor 🧒 🧑 🧑‍🎤
🥞

Character breakfast

Characters do a circuit of the main buffet on set mornings. Sit near the middle of the room rather than the terrace and they come to you.

🏄

Uvero Alto beach walk

The sand here runs for kilometres and stays almost empty. The surf is livelier than in Bavaro, so it is a walking beach more than a swimming one.

Is it right for your kids?

👶Great fit

Baby

0 to 1 yr

Free cots, bottle warmers and a shaded shallow pool. The suites are big enough to put a baby down in a separate space, which is rarer here than you would think.

🧒Great fit

Toddler

1 to 3 yrs

The spraygrounds and the shallow end of Aqua Nick are the sweet spot. Characters can be overwhelming at this age, keep the first meeting short.

🧑Great fit

Kid

4 to 11 yrs

This is the age the whole resort is built for. Slides, slime, characters and a club they will not want to leave.

🧑‍🎤Great fit

Teen

12 yrs and up

Mixed. The big slides and the sports hold up, the cartoon branding does not. Teenagers usually prefer Hard Rock or Cap Cana.

Parents also ask

Is Aqua Nick really included?

Yes, entry is included for resort guests for the whole stay, every day. Cabana rental inside the park is the only paid extra, and it is optional.

Does the slime stain?

It rinses out of skin and hair straight away and washes out of most swimwear. Light-coloured or brand new swimsuits are still a bad idea, so pack the old ones.

How far is it from the airport?

Uvero Alto is the far northern end of the coast, roughly 45 to 60 minutes from Punta Cana International depending on traffic. Book the resort transfer, taxis are expensive on this run.

Is the beach good for swimming?

It is beautiful and empty, but Uvero Alto faces the open Atlantic and the surf is stronger than in Bavaro. Small children swim in the pools and play at the shoreline.
