Kassiopi Bay
- Baby

Kassiopi is the antidote to the north coast's all-inclusive belt: a working fishing harbour with tavernas around the water, a ruined castle above it, and calm, sheltered swimming at Kalamionas beach a few steps away. Kassiopi Bay puts you inside that, in an apartment with a kitchen, for roughly a third of what a resort costs. You give up the slides and the kids club entirely. Some families find that is exactly the holiday they wanted.

Our verdict
The calm-water, real-village option, and the one we would pick with a baby or a pair of under-fives. Choose it if your idea of a good holiday is a sheltered swim, a walk to a taverna and nobody with a microphone. Choose almost anything else if your children want slides.
The rooms
An apartment hotel at the north-western tip of Kassiopi harbour, a stone's throw from the main beach. Family apartments are spacious and clean with comfortable beds, and each has its own kitchen space, so bottles, purees and early breakfasts are on your schedule rather than a buffet's. This is accommodation, not a resort: there is no animation team, no slides and no evening show.

How the KidProof Score works
Every hotel is rated on eight things families actually care about, then weighted by how much each one drives your choice. Room setup counts the most. The little touches break the ties.

Shallow pool or paddling area, playground, kids club (free or paid).
Quick breakfast, kids menus, allergy options, snacks on hand.
Secured windows, protected corners, watched pool, well kept grounds.
Laundry, in-room fridge, stroller access, parking, reliable Wi-Fi.

Welcome gift for the child, staff who talk to kids, themed rooms.
Why families love it
- Steps from Kalamionas beach: sand mixed with pebbles, sheltered from the wind, no waves
- Spacious family apartments with kitchen space and comfortable beds
- A real Greek harbour village on your doorstep, walkable at night with children
- Avlaki beach and its clear water about 3km away
- Tavernas around the harbour rather than a buffet hall
- A third of resort prices, with the freedom that comes with a kitchen
ποΈA day here with kids
- 7:30
Breakfast in the apartment
Bakery run first if someone is awake anyway. The harbour is beautiful this early.
- 9:30
Kalamionas beach
Sheltered, flat, and there is free space away from the taverna sunbeds.
- 13:00
Lunch and nap
Back to the apartment. This is the hour a resort cannot give you.
- 17:30
Castle or harbour
Watch the boats come in. Free, and it lasts longer than you expect with a four year old.
- 19:30
Taverna around the water
Kids run between tables, nobody minds, and you walk home in four minutes.
Family things to do nearby
Kalamionas beach
Sheltered from the wind, so the water sits flat all day. Water shoes help with the pebbly patches.
Kassiopi castle walk
A short, steep climb to the ruined fortress above the harbour. Twenty minutes up, and the view buys you goodwill.
Avlaki beach
About 3km away, one of the north-east's loveliest, with famously clear water. It catches the breeze, so go in the morning.
Is it right for your kids?
Baby
0 to 1 yr
One of the island's better baby bases: a kitchen, a flat sheltered beach forty seconds away, and a nap-friendly room you control.
Toddler
1 to 3 yrs
Calm, no-wave water and a village they can toddle round. The pebbly patches at Kalamionas are the only nuisance, so pack water shoes.
Kid
4 to 11 yrs
Great if they swim, snorkel and climb castles. Thin if they expect slides and a club, because there are neither.
Teen
12 yrs and up
Honestly, probably not. Kassiopi is beautiful and quiet, and quiet is the problem at fifteen with no pool and no crowd.

Parents also ask
Is there a pool and a kids club?
No kids club, and you should not book this expecting resort facilities. It is an apartment hotel next to a calm beach in a village. That is the offer, and the price reflects it.
Is Kalamionas beach sandy?
Sand mixed with pebbles. It is sheltered from the wind so the water stays calm and wave-free, which for a toddler matters more than the texture underfoot. Water shoes solve the rest.
Do we need a hire car?
For the village, no: tavernas, shops and the beach are all on foot. For the rest of the island, yes, and expect winding roads. Corfu Town is roughly an hour away.
Will children be bored without a club?
Under-fives, no: a flat sea and a harbour is a full day. From about eight upwards it depends entirely on your child. If yours needs a programme, book a resort instead.

Ikos Dassia
Rooms and suites spread through mature gardens running down to the sea, most with a balcony or terrace. Family rooms and two-bedroom suites give you a door to close at 8pm, and the bungalow suites with private garden or pool are the ones parents of toddlers keep rebooking. Cots, bottle sterilisers and bath supports are free on request, but ask early because stock is finite.

Roda Beach Resort & Spa
A big estate of low buildings and bungalows spread across gardens at the island's northern tip. Family rooms and bungalows sleep four comfortably; some are a genuine walk from the main pool and restaurant, so ask for something central if you have a toddler who naps. Standard rooms are functional rather than smart, and the newer refurbished blocks are noticeably better.

Canvas by Mitsis Messonghi
A very large beachfront estate between Moraitika and Messonghi villages, with rooms in low blocks and bungalows through the gardens. Family rooms take four; ask for one near the pools, because this site is long and the walk back for a forgotten armband is a real one. Rooms are comfortable and unremarkable, which at this price is the right trade.
