Ikos Dassia is the resort other Greek all-inclusives get measured against, and it earns it. The kids club is free from age 4 (the creche for babies from 6 months is paid), the food is genuinely restaurant-grade rather than buffet-grade, and the whole place sits on a long green slope above a calm east coast beach. It is a lot of money. What you buy is the near-total absence of daily friction: no wristband upsells, no queuing to book dinner, no bad meal.

Our verdict
If the budget stretches, this is the one. Not because it is luxurious (it is), but because it removes almost every small decision that makes a family holiday tiring. Best value with a 4 to 12 year old, who costs you nothing extra to entertain all day.
The rooms
Rooms and suites spread through mature gardens running down to the sea, most with a balcony or terrace. Family rooms and two-bedroom suites give you a door to close at 8pm, and the bungalow suites with private garden or pool are the ones parents of toddlers keep rebooking. Cots, bottle sterilisers and bath supports are free on request, but ask early because stock is finite.

How the KidProof Score works

ποΈA day here with kids
- 8:00
Breakfast in the gardens
Eggs cooked to order and a proper baby corner. Go before 9 for a shaded table.
- 10:00
Club drop off
Then two hours on a lounger that nobody interrupts. This is the whole point.
- 13:00
Lunch by the beach
The beachfront spots are quicker than the main buffet with tired children.
- 16:00
Sea, then showers
Water is calmest late afternoon once the day boats have gone.
- 19:30
A la carte dinner
Book the early sitting. Kids eat properly, you get a grown-up meal.
Family things to do nearby
Kayaks and paddleboards
Non-motorised watersports are included. The bay is sheltered enough that a confident 8 year old can paddle alone within the buoys.
Heroes kids club
Crafts, sports and treasure hunts in age bands, from 10am. Drop off and pick up are flexible, so it does not eat your whole day.
Resort car for a day
Guests can book a complimentary car for a day to explore. Worth it for one trip north to Old Perithia or south to Corfu Town.
Is it right for your kids?
Baby
0 to 1 yr
Genuinely equipped: free cots, sterilisers, bath supports and a paid creche from 6 months. The slope is the only real friction with a pram.
Toddler
1 to 3 yrs
Shallow beach entry and a shaded kids pool. Toddlers under 4 fall between creche and club, so budget for creche sessions.
Kid
4 to 11 yrs
The sweet spot. Free club all day, included watersports, and enough space to let them roam a little.
Teen
12 yrs and up
Free Just4Teens programme, plus paddleboards and a beach they can walk to alone. Wifi is solid, which matters more than we admit.

Parents also ask
Is the kids club really free?
Yes, from age 4 to 12, and the teen programme too. Only the creche for children under 4 carries a charge, priced per session.
Do we need a hire car?
No. Dassia has tavernas and boat trips within walking distance, and the resort lends guests a car for a day. Hire one only if you want several days out.
Is it too big to feel relaxing?
It is large, but it is spread across gardens rather than stacked in blocks, so it rarely feels crowded. The slope is more of an issue than the size.
How far ahead should we book?
For July and August, close to a year. Family rooms and bungalow suites are the first to go, and prices only climb from there.

Roda Beach Resort & Spa
A big estate of low buildings and bungalows spread across gardens at the island's northern tip. Family rooms and bungalows sleep four comfortably; some are a genuine walk from the main pool and restaurant, so ask for something central if you have a toddler who naps. Standard rooms are functional rather than smart, and the newer refurbished blocks are noticeably better.

Canvas by Mitsis Messonghi
A very large beachfront estate between Moraitika and Messonghi villages, with rooms in low blocks and bungalows through the gardens. Family rooms take four; ask for one near the pools, because this site is long and the walk back for a forgotten armband is a real one. Rooms are comfortable and unremarkable, which at this price is the right trade.
in Corfu
Gelina Village & Aqua Park
Apartments and studios rather than hotel rooms, most with a kitchenette (fridge, kettle, tea and coffee), a balcony or terrace and air conditioning through the summer months. That kitchenette is the reason to come: bottles, purees and 6am toddler breakfasts without a restaurant timetable. Be clear-eyed about condition, though, because the cheapest rooms are dated and reviews flag maintenance.
