The draw is the on-site water park: a cluster of proper slides, a lazy river loop and a shallow splash castle for the small ones, all inside the gate so nobody has to be driven anywhere. Add a kitchen in every apartment and you have the classic Costa Brava formula for families who want a cheap, easy, wet week. The buildings are dated in places, but children do not notice slides that are twenty years old.
Our verdict
If your children measure a holiday in slides per day and your budget is tight, nothing on the Costa Brava beats this. Go in July or August, when the water park is fully open.
The rooms
Apartments rather than hotel rooms, which is exactly why parents come here. Each has a separate bedroom, a sofa bed in the living area and a small kitchen with a fridge, hob and kettle, so you can do porridge at seven and pasta at six without booking a table anywhere.

This is the age the place was built for: slides all morning, lazy river all afternoon, in bed by nine.

Is the water park open all year?
No. It typically runs from June to early September and the slides are the main reason to book here, so avoid the shoulder months if that is what you came for.
Do the apartments have air conditioning?
Yes, though in the older block it can be noisy at night. Ask for a renovated unit if a light sleeper is sharing your room.
Can we walk to the beach?
Yes, about fifteen minutes down to Lloret's main beach. The return is uphill and hard work in August heat, so plan the beach for late afternoon.
