This is the sporty giant of Lloret, and that turns out to be excellent news for families. Five outdoor pools, a shallow splash area with short slides, full-size football and basketball courts, and a free kids club that actually runs every day in season. Fenals beach is about a ten minute walk downhill. It is a busy, cheerful, slightly institutional place rather than a boutique one, but children have space to run and parents get a sun lounger.

Our verdict
The best free kids club to euro ratio on this coast. Book a Suite, ask for the garden side, and let the resort do the heavy lifting for a week.
The rooms
Four linked buildings (Garden, Park, Suites and Palace) share the same gardens and pools. The Suites block is the one to ask for with young children: a separate kids bedroom, a sofa bed, a kettle and a small fridge, so bottles and early breakfasts happen in your own room. Cots are free on request, put it in the booking notes.

Family things to do nearby
Splash pool morning
The shallow pool has two short slides with a low height limit, so three year olds get their turn instead of just watching.
Pitch time before dinner
The football pitches are open to guests when no group has booked them, and a 6pm kickabout buys you a calm bedtime.
Fenals beach afternoon
Fenals is calmer and shallower than Lloret's main beach, with sun beds, a lifeguard and a couple of easy beach bars.
Is it right for your kids?
Baby
0 to 1 yr
Free cots and a bottle warmer at reception, and the gardens are flat and pram friendly. The hill down to the beach is the only awkward bit.
Toddler
1 to 3 yrs
The shallow splash pool with its low slides is the whole holiday at this age, and it is fenced off from the deeper pools.
Kid
4 to 11 yrs
Peak age here. Kids club in the morning, pools all afternoon, mini disco after dinner, they will sleep well.
Teen
12 yrs and up
The sports courts and the ten minute walk into town keep teenagers happy, though the entertainment is aimed younger.

Parents also ask
Is the kids club really free?
Yes, it is included for ages 4 to 12 and runs daily in high season, usually mid-morning and again late afternoon. Outside July and August the programme is shorter.
How far is the beach with a pram?
Fenals is about ten minutes on the way down and closer to fifteen coming back up, on pavement the whole way. It is a proper slope, so a light stroller beats a heavy travel system.
Which building should we book?
Suites for families of four or more, thanks to the separate kids bedroom and the kettle. Garden and Park are cheaper and perfectly fine for three.
Similar family stays

in Costa Brava
Salles Hotel & Spa Cala del Pi
Large five-star rooms and junior suites, most with a big terrace and a sea view, some with a private jacuzzi outside. The family option is a junior suite with a sofa bed rather than a true second bedroom, so a family of four sleeps in one space: fine for younger children, tight for teenagers. Cots free, and a proper Nespresso and kettle in every room.

in Costa Brava
Hotel Golden Bahia de Tossa & Spa
Well kept family rooms and duplex suites, the duplexes putting the children upstairs and the parents down, which is worth every extra euro on night four. All rooms have a fridge, a safe and a balcony, and cots are free. Some family rooms are a single large space with a partition rather than a separate bedroom, so check the floor plan.

in Costa Brava
Prestige Goya Park
Low-rise garden buildings with family rooms and a good number of connecting doubles, which is the useful bit: two rooms, one door between them, everybody sleeps. Ask for a ground-floor room opening onto the lawn if you have a crawler. Cots are free and there is a fridge in every room.
