Sunrise Aqua Joy Resort

The budget pick of this list, and a surprisingly capable one: six pools, an aqua park with a walled play zone for little ones, and a kids club that takes children from three, which is younger than most of its rivals. It sits on the Al Mamsha seafront promenade, so you can actually walk out to shops, a pharmacy and cheap local restaurants, which is rare in Hurghada. The beach is across the promenade, a few minutes on foot from the pools.

Our verdict
The best value on this page if the budget is the deciding factor. You trade room quality and polish for slides, a young-friendly kids club and a walkable location.
The rooms
Simple, clean doubles and triples, refurbished in parts and dated in others. There are no true family suites: families of four take a triple with an extra bed or two doubles side by side. Cots are free but limited in number, so ask early.

🗓️A day here with kids

- 18:30

Ten minutes outside the gate and the holiday feels like a real place.
Family things to do nearby
Aqua park in the morning
The kids play zone with small slides and sprays is fenced and shallow, so you can sit at the edge with a coffee.
Walk the Mamsha promenade
The seafront walkway has ice cream stalls and local cafes, and prices outside the resort are a fraction of inside.
Glass-bottom boat from the marina
A short taxi to the marina gets you a one-hour trip over the reef, which suits children too small to snorkel.
Is it right for your kids?
Baby
0 to 1 yr
Doable on a budget but thin on baby comforts: free cots, high chairs and little else. There is no baby food station.
Toddler
1 to 3 yrs
The fenced play zone and a kids club from three make this better for two to four year olds than most cheap resorts here.
Kid
4 to 11 yrs
Slides, six pools and animation all day. At this price it is hard to argue with for six to eleven year olds.
Teen
12 yrs and up
The promenade outside is the main draw for this age, since the in-house entertainment is aimed at younger children.

Parents also ask
How old does a child have to be for the kids club?
It takes children from three up to twelve and it is included in the rate. Under-threes are welcome in the play area with a parent but not left in the club.
Is the beach directly at the hotel?
Not quite. The beach sits on the far side of the Al Mamsha seafront promenade, a few minutes' walk from the pool area, with loungers and umbrellas provided.
Is it safe to walk outside the resort with kids?
Yes, the promenade is busy and well lit in the evening. Expect friendly but persistent shop owners, and agree a price before any taxi ride.
Similar family stays

in Hurghada
Baron Palace Sahl Hasheesh
Large, properly finished rooms and family suites with marble bathrooms and balconies, most facing the gardens or the sea. The family suites give you a separate bedroom with a door that closes, which is the whole reason to pay this much, and several sit within sight of the pools. Cots free.

in Hurghada
Rixos Premium Magawish Suites & Villas
Suites and villas rather than plain rooms: most have a separate sitting area, and the villa units give you two bedrooms and a private terrace close to the beach. If you have a baby, ask for a villa on the garden side, where the evening music from the main pool does not carry.
in Hurghada
Steigenberger Al Dau Beach Hotel
Solid, well-kept rooms with proper balconies, many looking over the lagoon and the sea. Family rooms and junior suites take four, and connecting doubles are available for larger groups. Ask for the lagoon side: it is quieter than the road side and you can see the beach from the balcony.
