Aquaviva sits inside Madinat Makadi, the huge Jaz complex behind Makadi Bay, and its selling point is Makadi Water World: around fifty slides split roughly half for adults and half for children, all included for guests. It is a well-run, tidy resort with a proper kids club and better food than most at this price. The trade-off is the sea: the private beach is about three kilometres away and reached by a free shuttle bus.

Our verdict
If the holiday is judged by slides per euro, nothing in Egypt beats this. Families whose day starts and ends on the sand should look at Makadi Bay's beachfront hotels instead.
The rooms
Comfortable modern doubles and family rooms in two-storey blocks, most looking onto gardens or a pool. Family rooms sleep four with a partition rather than a full second bedroom, so if you have a light sleeper, book two connecting rooms instead. Cots free on request.

How the KidProof Score works
Every hotel is rated on eight things families actually care about, then weighted by how much each one drives your choice. Room setup counts the most. The little touches break the ties.

Family things to do nearby
Kids side of Water World
An entire half of the park is built at child scale, with gentler gradients and shallow landings, so under-tens are not stuck watching.
Beach shuttle day
Ten minutes on the bus takes you to the private stretch on Makadi Bay, where drinks and lunch are included as at the hotel.
Late afternoon pitch
The animation team runs football and volleyball once the park shuts, which fills the awkward gap before dinner.
Is it right for your kids?
Baby
0 to 1 yr
Honestly not the right choice: no beach on site, no dedicated baby facilities beyond a free cot and a high chair.
Toddler
1 to 3 yrs
The children's half of the park has shallow landing pools, but keep hold of hands: the site is busy and open.
Kid
4 to 11 yrs
The sweet spot. Fifty slides, a kids club and a football pitch will fill a fortnight without complaint.
Teen
12 yrs and up
The adult slides are genuinely steep, which teenagers appreciate, but evenings are quiet and there is nowhere to wander.

Parents also ask
Is the water park included?
Yes, unlimited access to Makadi Water World comes with the room for Aquaviva guests, along with the shared facilities of the Madinat Makadi complex.
How does the beach work if it is 3 km away?
A free shuttle bus runs on a fixed timetable through the day to the resort's private beach on Makadi Bay, where food and drinks are included. Plan it as a half-day, not a quick dip.
Is there a height limit on the slides?
The big adult slides require around 1.20 m and the children's slides are open to smaller kids with a parent. Staff measure at the tower, so avoid promises before you arrive.
Similar family stays

in Hurghada
Baron Palace Sahl Hasheesh
Large, properly finished rooms and family suites with marble bathrooms and balconies, most facing the gardens or the sea. The family suites give you a separate bedroom with a door that closes, which is the whole reason to pay this much, and several sit within sight of the pools. Cots free.

in Hurghada
Rixos Premium Magawish Suites & Villas
Suites and villas rather than plain rooms: most have a separate sitting area, and the villa units give you two bedrooms and a private terrace close to the beach. If you have a baby, ask for a villa on the garden side, where the evening music from the main pool does not carry.
in Hurghada
Steigenberger Al Dau Beach Hotel
Solid, well-kept rooms with proper balconies, many looking over the lagoon and the sea. Family rooms and junior suites take four, and connecting doubles are available for larger groups. Ask for the lagoon side: it is quieter than the road side and you can see the beach from the balcony.
