The Hilton sits above Abu Dabbab, the famous bay where sea turtles graze the seagrass in shallow, sandy-bottomed water. That setting is the whole point: a sheltered bay a short walk down from the resort where even young children, with an adult and a life vest, can snorkel over one of the Red Sea's gentlest reefs and quite possibly see a turtle. Four pools, a kids club, a playground and babysitting cover the days out of the water. It is a smart, family-run operation with a genuinely special beach, and the honest catch is the short walk between rooms and the sand.

Our verdict
The most memorable beach on this list thanks to the turtles of Abu Dabbab, and a well-run family resort behind it. Best for children old enough to snorkel with an adult, with pools and a kids club for the rest.
The rooms
Large, Nubian-styled rooms in low terraced blocks stepping down towards the sea, most with a balcony or terrace and enough room for a cot without moving furniture. Family rooms and connecting options work for four, and the resort is big enough that it pays to ask for a room near the pools and the kids club rather than at the far end. Cots are free on request.

Parents also ask
Will we really see turtles?
Often, but never guaranteed, they are wild animals. Abu Dabbab is one of the most reliable turtle spots on the coast, and mornings give the best odds. Keep your distance, stay in the marked area, and treat a sighting as a lucky bonus rather than a certainty.
Is the beach easy to reach with a toddler?
The bay itself is shallow and sandy underfoot, which toddlers love, but the resort steps down to the sea so there is a walk and some slope between many rooms and the beach. A lightweight pram or a baby carrier helps, and asking for a room on the lower levels near the beach saves a lot of carrying.
