Atlantis is the resort most children picture when you say Dubai: a giant pink palace on the Palm with an aquarium running through the middle of it and a waterpark attached to the back. The headline for parents is that Aquaventure and the Lost Chambers Aquarium come with your stay, which turns two expensive Dubai days into included ones. It is enormous, so expect real walking between your room, the beach and the slides, and expect the buffets and shops to be priced accordingly. Nothing else in the city delivers this much on-site entertainment, and the beach is genuinely good, wide and gently shelving. If you have one big splurge in you, this is the one they will still talk about next winter.

Our verdict

The single most kid-pleasing address in Dubai, and the included waterpark and aquarium soften the sticker shock more than people expect. Ask for a room in the wing nearest the waterpark if you have small children.

🛏️

The rooms

Big, solid rooms across two wings, nearly all with sea or Palm views, plus larger suites that give children their own corner. Connecting rooms are easy to request and cots are standard, so a family of four or five fits without anyone sleeping on a folding bed.

  1. 7:30

    Early breakfast

Beat the buffet rush and you get a table by the window without a wait.

  2. 9:30

    Waterpark at opening

The first hour is the calmest, park the pushchair near the lazy river.

  3. 13:30

Room break out of the sun

Midday is brutal from May onwards, this is what the air conditioning is for.

  4. 17:30

    Beach then a casual dinner

Sand toys out, then eat somewhere relaxed rather than at a signature restaurant.

Parents also ask

Is the waterpark really included?

Yes, hotel guests get access to Aquaventure for the length of the stay, and aquarium access is normally included too. Confirm what your specific rate covers when you book.

Is it too big for toddlers?

It is a long resort. Ask for a room on the beach or waterpark side and plan on using the pushchair for internal walks, and it works fine.

Can we get connecting rooms?

Connecting rooms are standard in Dubai and common here, but they are allocated on arrival, so request them at booking and again a few days before you fly.

What about fussy eaters?

The buffets are enormous and always include plain pasta, rice and fruit, so even cautious eaters find something. The casual outlets cost far less than the signature restaurants.
