Playacapricho is the value pick on Playa Serena, and it earns its family reputation with the pool: a big outdoor one with real water slides, an indoor pool for grey mornings, and separate clubs split by age from little ones up to teenagers. The building is classic Spanish resort rather than boutique, and the buffet is a buffet, but at this price with slides included and the beach across the promenade, families keep coming back.

Our verdict

The best pool per euro in Roquetas. Come for a week of slides, promenade walks and easy days, do not come expecting a design hotel.

🛏️

The rooms

Straightforward rooms with balconies, many facing the sea, and family rooms that take two adults and two children without a squeeze. Decor is functional rather than designer, but the space and the balcony are what you use.

🗓️A day here with kids

  1. 9:00

    Breakfast then pool towels

Loungers near the kids pool go early in August, one parent goes down at nine.

  2. 10:30

    Club drop off

Ask which club matches your child's age, the split really is by age here.

  3. 13:00

    Lunch and shade

The pool terrace bakes at midday, eat inside and go back out at four.

  4. 18:30

    Beach then mini disco

Last hour of sun on Playa Serena is the nicest, then straight into the evening show.

Parents also ask

Are the water slides open all year?

They run through the warm season, roughly late spring to early autumn. In winter the indoor pool is the reliable option, so check dates if slides are the reason you are booking.

Is it directly on the beach?

It faces the beach with the pedestrian promenade in between, so about a minute on foot with no road to cross.

Is all inclusive worth it here?

Half board plus the promenade restaurants often works out better, because Roquetas has plenty of good, cheap places within a five minute walk.
