Paradores are Spain's state-run hotels, and the Mojacar one is the seaside version: a low white building set in palm gardens right on the sand, with a proper restaurant, a big pool and, in summer, a free mini club and free swimming lessons for children. It is the grown-up choice on this coast, quiet, spacious and beautifully positioned, and it works with kids precisely because it never tries to be a water park.
