Paradores are Spain's state-run hotels, and the Mojacar one is the seaside version: a low white building set in palm gardens right on the sand, with a proper restaurant, a big pool and, in summer, a free mini club and free swimming lessons for children. It is the grown-up choice on this coast, quiet, spacious and beautifully positioned, and it works with kids precisely because it never tries to be a water park.

Our verdict

Choose it if you want beachfront calm, room to breathe and food you actually look forward to. Do not choose it if the holiday hinges on slides and a mini disco.

🛏️

The rooms

Large, calm rooms in a low white 1960s building, most with a balcony over the palm gardens or the sea. Family rooms take up to four, and the state-run Parador standard means solid beds, blackout curtains and genuine quiet after ten.

🗓️A day here with kids

  1. 8:30

    Breakfast facing the sea

Quiet and unhurried, one of the calmest breakfast rooms on the coast.

  2. 10:00

    Swimming lesson

Free sessions run in summer, so children are in the water before the sun bites.

  3. 13:00

    Beach and shade

The gardens give real shade, which the open beach here does not.

  4. 19:00

    Playground then dinner

Kids burn the last energy on site while you order in peace.

Is it right for your kids?

👶Great fit

Baby

0 to 1 yr

Big rooms, cots and step free ground floor access make this an easy Parador with a baby, and the gardens are shaded for naps.

🧒Great fit

Toddler

1 to 3 yrs

Enclosed gardens, a playground and a shallow children's pool, with the beach a few steps away.

🧑Great fit

Kid

4 to 11 yrs

The swimming lessons and the mini club fill the mornings, though this age may want a day at a water park too.

🧑‍🎤Great fit

Teen

12 yrs and up

Calm and comfortable, but they will need the beach sports and the bus down to the busier strip to stay entertained.

Parents also ask

Is the mini club really free?

Yes, in the summer season the Parador runs a free children's mini club and free swimming lessons for guests. Outside summer, expect a quieter hotel with no organised programme.

Is it right on the beach?

Yes, the gardens open onto the sand of Mojacar Playa, with the seafront promenade running past the front of the hotel.

Is it good value at this price?

You pay for space, calm and position rather than facilities. Families who want slides get more for their money elsewhere on this coast.
