Our Habitas is the boho-chic desert resort that put AlUla on the wish list, a village of 96 low-slung villas tucked among date palms with the sandstone walls of the Ashar Valley all around. For families it strikes a nice balance: children of all ages are welcome and stay free in your villa, there is a striking infinity pool plus an indoor pool, and the vibe is relaxed rather than formal, so nobody minds a splashing toddler. Meals are wholesome and served in a communal, sociable way, and the activity menu (wellness, canyon walks, stargazing) works well for older kids and parents alike. Like the whole valley it is remote with no dedicated kids club, and the design-led villas prize openness over baby-proofing, both worth planning around.

Our verdict

The relaxed, good-looking desert base for families who want villa privacy and a beautiful pool without full-on formality, helped a lot by kids staying free. Bring your own baby-proofing mindset and treat the valley walks as the day's entertainment.

🛏️

The rooms

A spread of freestanding villas among the palm groves, each with a private deck and canyon views, in Alcove, Canyon and Celestial styles that mostly hold a family of three to four. Children stay free in the parent's villa, cots come on request, and a handful of larger villas suit bigger families, so ask about the two-key or connecting options when you book.

Parents also ask

Is it good for young children?

Yes within limits: children of all ages are welcome and stay free, there is a pool they love, and the vibe is relaxed. Just remember there is no kids club, the villas are open-plan and design-led, and it is a remote valley, so plan supplies and downtime.

Do children really stay free?

Yes, children stay free when sharing the parents' villa, using existing bedding. Confirm the exact age policy and any extra-bed or cot charge for your dates when you book.

How far are the sights?

Hegra, Elephant Rock and AlUla Old Town are all a short to moderate drive away, roughly 15 to 40 minutes. A hire car or the resort's transfers make family days out much smoother.
