Makryammos is a family-run resort spread through pine forest on its own sheltered bay, just 2 km from the port at Limenas. The private beach shelves gently, has a lifeguard in season and a shallow freshwater baby pool right beside it, plus a mini club and a playground. For very young children and a safe, self-contained feel, it is one of the most reassuring choices on the island.
Our verdict
If you are travelling with a baby or toddler, Makryammos is hard to beat: a private forest bay, a lifeguarded beach that shelves gently and a shallow baby pool a few steps away, all a short hop from Limenas. It is peaceful and safe rather than flashy, and that is precisely the point.
The rooms
Accommodation is in stone bungalows scattered through 30 acres of pine forest, each with a private veranda looking over the gardens or the Aegean. They were recently renovated and family categories give you room for four. Electric carts ferry you and tired children up and down the wooded slope, which is a small blessing at the end of a beach day.
