La Signoria is a five-star Relais & Châteaux estate in the Mediterranean scrubland behind Calvi, all century-old trees, a gourmet restaurant and a serious spa. It is a refined, quiet address rather than a splash-park club, but its family villas with private pools and its own Signoria Mare beach make it a real option for parents who want luxury and calm with the children close. Best for families comfortable with a grown-up, elegant pace.

Our verdict

La Signoria is a luxury family choice, not a club: book a private-pool villa and you get a serene, five-star base near Calvi where young children can nap and swim on their own terms and parents eat exceptionally well. If you want animation and slides, look elsewhere, but for elegant calm with the kids nearby, it is memorable.

🛏️

The rooms

The family answer here is the two-bedroom villas: around 100 square metres with a lounge, two bathrooms, a separate wc and a private garden pool, which is a genuine game-changer with a napping toddler. Cots, highchairs and a children's menu are on hand, and the main house rooms are gorgeous but more grown-up, so families should aim for a villa where the private pool and space do the heavy lifting.

Parents also ask

Is a five-star Relais & Chateaux really family-friendly?

Yes, in the right room. The estate has dedicated two-bedroom family villas with private pools, plus cots, highchairs, a children's menu and early dinner, so it welcomes children even though the overall feel is refined and calm rather than a bustling kids club.

How do we get to the beach?

The hotel has its own private beach, Signoria Mare, on the coast, reached by hotel shuttle from the inland estate. Many families also hire a car to reach Calvi's long town beach and the wider Balagne.

Is there anything for children to do on site?

There is no structured kids club, but the private villa pools, the main pool, the gardens and babysitting on request cover most needs. Older children tend to enjoy the space and the beach shuttle more than toddlers who want constant animation.

When is the best time to go with kids?

Late June and September are lovely: the sea is warm, Calvi is less frantic than in peak August and rates ease a little from the very highest summer prices, which helps with a villa booking.
