This is La Palma's one true big resort, a hillside of terraced rooms above the southern coast at Fuencaliente, with a huge spread of pools including a kids pool and an artificial-beach pool. It runs a proper Kids Zone with a children's pool and an entertainment team, so if you want the closest thing to a mainstream family resort on this quiet island, this is it. Just know it is remote, so a hire car makes the stay.

Our verdict

If you want the fullest set of family facilities on La Palma, pools, a kids club and a spa in one place, this is the island's benchmark. Hire a car, book a family room, and use the south for its dark skies and volcano trails.

🛏️

The rooms

The island's biggest resort, with roomy doubles and family rooms terraced into the hillside, most with a balcony and sea or garden views. Family rooms sleep up to four, and there is a separate adults-only Esencia zone if grandparents want their own quiet corner.

0 to 1 yr

Cots and family rooms are available, but the terraced layout and remote setting mean a car and some pram effort.

🧒Great fit

Toddler

1 to 3 yrs

The children's pool and Kids Zone are great, just mind the many steps between levels.

🧑‍🎤Great fit

Teen

Pools, spa and stargazing suit teens, though the remote south means they will rely on you for lifts.

Parents also ask

Is this hotel adults-only?

No. The main hotel is a family resort with a Kids Zone and children's pool. There is a separate adults-only area called Esencia, which you book only if you want a child-free stay.

Do we need a hire car?

Effectively yes. The resort sits in the remote south at Fuencaliente, around 40 to 45 minutes from the airport, and a car is what lets you reach beaches, the volcano and the rest of the island.

Is there a beach nearby?

There is no swimming beach at the door, the southern coast here is rocky and volcanic. Families mostly use the many pools, and drive to Los Cancajos or Puerto Naos for a sand-and-sea day.
