Almerimar is a marina and golf resort tacked onto the greenhouse country of El Ejido, and this hotel is its comfortable centre: two outdoor pools plus a children's pool, an indoor pool, a full spa and 27 holes of golf on the doorstep. It is a quieter, more grown-up base than Roquetas, and the marina promenade with its ice cream shops and moored boats is the evening ritual. Bring your own rhythm, because there is no big kids club here.
Our verdict
A comfortable, sensibly priced base for families who want pools, space and a marina rather than a slide park. Best in spring and autumn, when the indoor pool and the empty golf course earn their keep.
The rooms
Large rooms in Andalusian style looking over the golf course or the marina, with 24 hour room service and enough floor space for a travel cot plus a spare bed. Connecting rooms exist and are the sensible booking for four or more.

🗓️A day here with kids
- 9:00
Breakfast then pool
Mornings are quiet here, you will have the children's pool to yourselves.
- 11:30
Beach run
Ten minutes to Playa de Almerimar, wide, open and usually breezy.
- 15:00
Indoor pool or spa
The wind usually arrives after lunch, so this is the indoor half of the day.
- 19:30
Dinner on the marina
Waterfront tables, boats coming in, and no traffic to worry about.
Family things to do nearby
Marina boat watching
The pontoons are open to walk along, and the fishing boats come back in the late afternoon.
Punta Entinas Sabinar reserve
Dunes, salt lagoons and birdlife just along the coast, an easy flat walk with a picnic.
Junior golf hour
The academy takes beginners, and a bucket of balls on the range is a cheap way to fill a windy hour.
Is it right for your kids?
Baby
0 to 1 yr
Comfortable and quiet, but with no baby club, no pram-friendly beach access and limited baby kit, it is a functional rather than easy choice.
Toddler
1 to 3 yrs
The children's pool is shallow and safe, and the marina walk is completely flat.
Kid
4 to 11 yrs
Golf academy, tennis, bikes and pools, but bring books or a card game for the quiet evenings.
Teen
12 yrs and up
Probably the best age here: golf, gym, spa and enough independence to walk to the marina alone.

Parents also ask
Is there a kids club?
Not a full daily kids club. There are children's activities in the high season and a children's pool, but this hotel is not built around organised entertainment.
How far is the beach?
About a kilometre to Playa de Almerimar, which is walkable for older children and a two minute drive with a pushchair and beach kit.
What about the greenhouses?
El Ejido is the heart of Europe's greenhouse farming, so the drive in is a sea of white plastic. The resort itself is green and coastal, but it is worth knowing before you arrive.

Big, bright rooms with terraces looking over gardens or the sea, plus junior suites and connecting doubles that let a family of five spread out. Cots are free and most rooms take a proper extra bed rather than a fold-out chair.
