The Hilton Al Hamra Beach & Golf Resort spreads low and green across Al Hamra Village, at the southern end of Ras Al Khaimah's coast, minutes from the Al Marjan Island resorts but with a settled, leafy feel of its own. Families get one of the emirate's longest private beaches, two outdoor pools including one for children, a kids' club with daily activities, and family and connecting rooms that are easy to book. An 18-hole golf course wraps around the grounds, and the Al Hamra marina, mall and village restaurants are a short walk or buggy ride away, so there is somewhere to go in the evening without a taxi. An all-inclusive board is available if you want to fix the budget, though it is not the default.

Our verdict
A dependable, fairly priced base for families who want a long beach, calm green grounds and a walkable village, without paying Al Marjan high-rise prices. Ask for a room near the family pool if your children are still small, and use a buggy to cross the grounds.
The rooms
Straightforward, comfortable rooms with family formats and connecting options, most a short walk or buggy ride from the pools or the beach. Cots and high chairs come as standard, and the layouts are practical rather than flashy, which suits families who spend most of the day outdoors anyway.

Rixos Bab Al Bahr
Spacious rooms and suites across the resort's low-rise wings, many with sea or lagoon views, with family suites and connecting options that comfortably sleep four. Cots, high chairs and kids' bathrobes are provided on request, and the layouts leave enough floor space for a toddler to potter about before nap time.

InterContinental Ras Al Khaimah Mina Al Arab Resort & Spa
Spacious, design-led suites and villas, some with private pools, spread across a calm stretch of Mina Al Arab, with several looking out over the lagoon or the mangroves.
