A five-star just above Fanabe beach that recently added proper waterslides and a splash park to its lagoon-style pools, so the water side finally matches the setting. Downstairs there is a free kids club, a baby pool, mini-golf and a playground, which is a lot of ground to cover before you even reach the sand.

Our verdict
A polished five-star that now has the slides to back up the setting, and enough dry play to fill the gaps between swims. A strong all-rounder for families of four.
The rooms
Large family rooms comfortably fit two adults and two children, and there is a separate lounge in the bigger suites. Ask for a pool-view room away from the rooftop bar if you have a light sleeper.
