Hideaway sits on the northwest corner of Zanzibar, where the beach stays swimmable at every tide, which is the single most important thing to know when you travel with children. It is the island's only member of the Leading Hotels of the World, so the polish is real, yet the mood stays relaxed and family-minded. A big infinity pool, a separate kids pool, a Hide and Seek kids club and a playground give little ones a full day without ever leaving the grounds. Spread over ten hectares of gardens at the northern tip of the island, Hideaway has a wide choice of rooms, and families are well served. The larger 90 sqm suites sleep three or four with a big sofa bed in the living room, and several categories add a private pool. Cots come free on request, and ground-level garden rooms keep a pushchair easy. Ask for a room near the 50 metre pool and its separate children's pool rather than a far garden corner.
