Hammamet is Tunisia's easy family beach break: a two to three hour flight from much of Europe, with long sandy beaches, warm calm sea and a wall of affordable all-inclusive resorts, many with their own water slides and free kids clubs. Yasmine Hammamet is the purpose-built resort strip, with a car-free marina, a theme park and the aquaparks; the older town to the north adds a walled medina and Kasbah for a real slice of Tunisia. It is value rather than luxury, and the best swimming runs from May to October, but for a sunny, slide-filled family week that does not empty the account, few places nearby compete.

When is the best time to visit Hammamet with kids?
May, June, September and October are ideal, with warm sea and sun but without the peak-summer heat. July and August are hotter and busier, so plan slides and beach in the morning and shade at midday.
Which airport should we fly into?
Enfidha (NBE) is the closest, roughly an hour by transfer, and handles most charter flights from Europe. Tunis Carthage (TUN) is a little further north.
Is Hammamet good value compared with Spain or Greece?
Yes, this is the point of Tunisia. All-inclusive resorts with kids clubs and water slides cost noticeably less than the equivalent in Spain, Greece or Turkey. Expect honest value rather than five-star polish at these prices.
Yasmine Hammamet or the old town: where should we stay?
Yasmine Hammamet has the car-free marina, theme park and biggest aquapark resorts, ideal for a self-contained family week. The northern resorts near the old town are leafier and calmer, and closer to the authentic medina and Kasbah.
