Olhuveli is the family island that keeps the maths simple: two kids up to fifteen stay and eat free, and the Maakaana kids club is free too. It spreads across three connected islands in South Male, with three pools including one for children and a long, shallow, wade-forever lagoon that toddlers adore. The forty-five-minute speedboat means no seaplane, and the water sports centre is one of the liveliest in the country. It is relaxed, generous and refreshingly unfussy about children.

For families, the Beach Villas and Family rooms sit close to the children's pool and the kids club, while two children can stay and eat free up to age fifteen when sharing with parents. Cots are provided, and the beach-access rooms are the easy pick over the overwater villas for anyone with a toddler.
