Shaden is the practical, better-value family choice in AlUla, a large resort managed by Accor set against dramatic rock formations and much closer to town than the far-flung valley camps. The key point for parents is the water: there is a spacious main pool, a separate children's pool and an indoor pool too, which is a genuine rarity here and a lifesaver for toddlers in the heat. Rooms run from simple doubles to big family units and a six-bedroom suite, some with their own private pool, and children over one are welcome. It is a resort rather than a design statement, so do not expect boutique polish, but for families who want swimmable water, room to spread out and a sensible price within reach of the sights, it is the smart pick.

Is there really a pool for small children?
Yes, Shaden has a separate children's pool as well as a large main pool and an indoor pool, which is unusually family-friendly for AlUla and a big reason to choose it with toddlers.
What ages are allowed?
Children over one year old are welcome, and there are family rooms and multi-bedroom suites to suit larger families. Confirm cot availability for babies when you book.
Is it close to the main sights?
It is closer to AlUla town and the sights than the remote valley camps, with Elephant Rock, Old Town and Hegra all a manageable drive. You will still want a car or arranged transfers.

Ashar Tented Resort
Luxury tents strung along the Ashar Valley floor, from one-bedroom up to a two-bedroom tent suite of around 90 square metres that is built for a small family, each with en-suite bathrooms, a living room and a terrace with sun loungers and a fireplace. The two-bedroom suites give parents and children their own space under canvas, and cots can be arranged, though a soft-sided tent is worth weighing with a very light-sleeping baby.
