The Savoy sits on the liveliest beach on Mahe, the long golden sweep of Beau Vallon, with the island's biggest choice of restaurants and shops right outside. It is a practical family base rather than a hidden hideaway: an easy transfer from the airport, a huge pool and a supervised kids club. Because it is in a real village, you can walk out for an ice cream or a casual dinner, which many parents prefer to being locked inside one resort. It is one of the better-value five-star options on the island.

The Savoy is a large, modern resort right on Beau Vallon beach, with Family Rooms and interconnecting rooms that suit four comfortably. Standard rooms take an extra bed or cot, provided free, and the flat, walkable grounds are simple with a pushchair. Being in the middle of Beau Vallon means shops, restaurants and a supermarket are a short stroll away, which is handy with a baby.

Cots are free and the resort is used to babies. Buggies ferry you around the hilly, green estate, and the three beaches include the famous Anse Georgette. The children's pool and playground sit near the kids club.

Every room at Raffles is a private villa, and many have their own pool, which is a huge win with a napping toddler or an early bedtime. One and two-bedroom Pool Villas suit families, and up to five children thirteen and under stay free using existing bedding, which softens the cost. A creche looks after younger children while the Sugar Palm Kids' Club takes ages four and up. Cots and baby kit come on request.

Ephelia spreads over 120 hectares with two beaches, so there is a lot of choice for families. The 17 Family Villas have two bedrooms and a private plunge pool, ideal when a toddler needs a dark room for naps, while Junior and Senior Suites handle a family of three or four. Cots are free on request and connecting options are easy to arrange. A shuttle buggy runs around the grounds, which helps because the estate is large.
