Angsana sits inside the Laguna Phuket enclave on Bang Tao, a gated cluster of resorts around a lagoon where free shuttle boats and buggies take you from pool to beach to golf. The Treehouse Kids Club runs complimentary activities for ages four to twelve, welcomes little ones from age one with a parent, and even has a teens area. The vast free-form pool is a genuine draw, and the long, gentle Bang Tao beach is a short stroll or shuttle away. It is relaxed, green and made for pottering about with children in tow.

Loft and two-bedroom family suites give parents a real separate space, and many rooms open onto the huge lagoon-fed pool that snakes through the resort. Cots are provided on request, and the size of the grounds means it is worth asking for a room near the Treehouse kids club.
