This DoubleTree is the value pick on Mahe, a small and calm resort on the quiet southeast coast at Anse Forbans. There is no kids club, but the sheltered reef-protected beach is one of the safest on the island for a paddle, and the infinity pool looks straight out to sea. It suits families who want a simple, affordable beach base and are happy to make their own days rather than lean on organised children's activities. With children under twelve staying free, it is one of the least expensive ways to bring a family to the Seychelles.

Allamanda is a small, low-key resort of around thirty rooms, most a few steps from the beach. Rooms are simple and comfortable rather than lavish, and up to two children under twelve stay free sharing with parents, which keeps costs down. Cots are available and the ground-floor beachfront rooms are easy with a pushchair. There are no big family suites, so larger families take two connecting rooms.

Ephelia spreads over 120 hectares with two beaches, so there is a lot of choice for families. The 17 Family Villas have two bedrooms and a private plunge pool, ideal when a toddler needs a dark room for naps, while Junior and Senior Suites handle a family of three or four. Cots are free on request and connecting options are easy to arrange. A shuttle buggy runs around the grounds, which helps because the estate is large.
